Built on three decades of clinical leadership

AFYRI is a subsidiary of Integrum AB — the company that pioneered bone anchored prosthesis (osseointegration). While Integrum continues to lead in implant hardware, AFYRI focuses on a single mission: building the AI-driven bi-directional control layer that makes prosthetics intuitive, adaptive, robust, and ultimately natural.

A new layer requires focus

The hardware foundation of bone-anchored prosthesis has been clinically validated over decades. The next leap — intelligent, adaptive, learning-driven software — calls for different talent, different speed, and dedicated capital. AFYRI is established as a focused subsidiary to bring that next layer to market, drawing on Integrum's clinical infrastructure and IP while operating with the agility of an independent venture.

35 years of pioneering bone-anchored prosthesis

Osseointegration — the biological integration of living bone with titanium — was discovered by Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark in the 1960s and transformed modern dental implant care. Decades later, the same principle was extended to bone-anchored limb prosthetics, and in 1998 Integrum AB was founded by Dr. Rickard Brånemark to bring that application to market. Today the OPRA™ Implant System is used by over a thousand patients worldwide. In 2013, the platform was extended again — into bidirectional neural communication through the world's first permanent implantation of electrodes in an amputee. AFYRI inherits this clinical platform, the surgical infrastructure, the IP base, and the global network of clinicians who have advanced bone-anchored prostheses for decades.

Built by people who built the field

AFYRI draws on the people who pioneered neuromusculoskeletal prosthetics — including Dr Rickard Brånemark, who led the world's first surgery permanently implanting neuromuscular electrodes in an amputee in 2013, and the broader scientific and clinical network developed within Integrum over three decades.
